TURNER-BOLTON NAMED INTERIM WOMEN'S BASKETBALL COACH

January 18, 2008

Eugene, OR  - The Northwest Christian College athletic department announced on Thursday that Liz Turner-Bolton has been named the Interim Head Coach for the women’s basketball program, effective immediately.

Head Coach Charlie Olds resigned on Thursday, citing personal reasons. Olds ends his tenure at Northwest Christian with a 45-54 record. Olds led the Beacons to back-to-back appearances in the USCAA National Championship tournament in 2006 and 2007 and guided the program during the transition into the NAIA and the Cascade Collegiate Conference. Prior to joining the coaching staff at Northwest Christian, Olds spent 16 seasons as the girl’s varsity head coach at Springfield HS.

Athletic Director Corey Anderson said, “We thank Charlie for his energy and investment into the start-up of our women’s basketball program.  While his departure is not at an ideal time, we will be in full support of promoting Liz Bolton to the Interim Head Coach Position.

Turner-Bolton has been an assistant with the women’s basketball program since its inception in 2003. She has an 18-year background in coaching which included stints at Lane Community College, Junction City HS, Cottage Grove HS and Mohawk HS where she was the girl’s varsity head coach for one season.

Athletic Director Corey Anderson will assume duties as the Assistant Coach for the remainder of the season. The Beacons are currently 8-10 on the year, including a 2-6 record in the CCC.
