Northwest Christian College Counseling Center Offers Low-Cost Counseling

EUGENE, Ore. – January 25, 2007-Northwest Christian College-

The Professional Counseling Program at Northwest Christian College offers counseling for residents of Eugene-Springfield at $5.00 per weekly session and a no-cost intake session.  The Counseling Center helps fill the gap for mental health services as more community people struggle with rising health care costs.

Counseling is available to individuals 16 years old and older. Graduate counseling students supervised by licensed professionals staff the center. The Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists approve northwest Christian’s Counseling Program. 

The counselors-in-training provide counseling for people of diverse backgrounds, ages, lifestyles, and religious faiths.  They work with issues of depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, relationships, career, and life transitions. The specific approach to counseling is tailored to fit the client’s needs. The graduate students are pursuing a master’s degree in counseling to become Licensed Professional Counselors.

Students’ clinical work is closely supervised by Counseling Program faculty.  The faculty and staff have diverse ethnic and professional backgrounds with years of experience and training in clinical supervision.  The Counseling Center operates under the ethical guidelines of the American Counseling Association, the American Psychological Association and the legal requirements of the state of Oregon.
