Release Date: September 1st, 2006

Northwest Christian College (NCC) in Eugene, Ore, is rated by US News and World Report as 16th overall among forty comprehensive colleges in the Western region. This is the third straight year that Northwest Christian College has made this prestigious list. Comprehensive colleges emphasize undergraduate education and grant the majority of their degrees in professional disciplines such as business and education. The College also ranked third in the Western region of comprehensive colleges, and fourth nationally in the category of highest proportion of class size under 20 students.

The US News rankings are based on several key indicators including: peer assessment (reputation), retention and graduation rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, and alumni giving.

A Christian liberal arts college, Northwest Christian is also rated sixth in the west as a “best value” in its category. The formula used to determine best value relates to a school’s academic quality and the net cost of attendance for a student receiving an average level of financial aid and scholarships. The higher the academic quality and the lower the net cost, the better the value.

“We are pleased to see this recognition and affirmation of the good work at NCC,” noted Dr. David Wilson, president of Northwest Christian College. “Students at Northwest Christian College receive a quality academic experience, and this report from US News and World Report makes that known to the rest of the world. With that having been said, however, our efforts to improve never stop.”
