Northwest Christian College announces its largest incoming freshmen class since 1997. On August 30, 2006, NCC included 67 new, full-time freshman students. This is a 40% increase over the 48 new freshmen in 2005. The College is anticipating continued growth toward a goal of 1,200 total students by 2014.
Northwest Christian College (NCC) has entered an exciting time of growth and expansion. The College is a member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU); collectively, CCCU members experienced an enrollment growth rate of nearly 70% between 1992 and 2002. This growth rate far surpassed that of any other category of higher education institutions in the same period.
The College has joined the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Cascade Collegiate Conference, and added new sports to its athletic program that includes women’s volleyball (2005), men’s and women’s soccer (2006), and men’s and women’s cross country (2006). Men’s and women’s golf will be added in 2007. These sports will bring at least 50 new student-athletes to the College over the next three years.
NCC prepares for this growth with more student housing, classrooms, and other campus expansion. In addition, a number of new full-time faculty positions will be added in key areas to meet students’ needs for excellence in academic programs.
In the spring of 2006, the school purchased the Sigma Nu fraternity house which, after renovations, will serve as a new residence hall. The building will provide a unique housing environment for over 50 students, blending academic and recreational elements.
Northwest Christian College was recently named one of the best colleges in the West in its category by U.S. News and World Report. This is the third straight year that the College has made this prestigious list.
