NORTHWEST CHRISTIAN COLLEGE PROFESSOR MOVED TO OREGON AFTER HURRICANE KATRINA
EUGENE, Ore. –October 9, 2006-Northwest Christian College-
Northwest Christian College professor of biology, Tracy Mullins, returned to Oregon one year after hurricane Katrina damaged her home in the New Orleans suburb of Metairie, La. Originally from St. Helens, Ore, Professor Mullins made the move to Eugene with her mother and two teenage brothers.
Professor Mullins lived in New Orleans for 5 years and worked at Xavier University of Louisiana, prior to Katrina. As a result of the hurricane, the university cut 50 percent of its faculty. Professor Mullins’ position was one of the many that were cut, resulting in her move back to Oregon.
Tracy said that while living in New Orleans for six years, she missed Oregon clam chowder the most.
