Research Databases

The subscription research databases can be used to access a variety of academic journals, newspaper articles. general interest magazines, almanacs and encyclopedias. The Kellenberger Library holds subscriptions to these databases, which can be used by any Northwest Christian students, faculty, and staff.

 

Available collections include:

 

  • Election '08 coverage - resources to help find information about the upcoming election.
  • Ebscohost - Scholarly academic journals, general interest magazines, and newspapers.
  • Lexis-Nexis - U.S. and international news, business, legal, medical, health, and the New York Times. Also includes biographical information, country and state profiles, quotations, and the World Almanac.
  • Oregonian Newsbank - Full text articles from the Portland newspaper.
  • OCLC First Search - Citation and abstract coverage from over 80 magazine and journal subject databases as well as facts, statistics, and directory information.
  • TheFACTS.com - Resources include "World News Digest (1980-1993)"; "World News Archive (1940-1979)"; "Issues and Controversies"; Today's Science"; "The World Almanac", and "The World Almanac Encyclopedia".

 

The subscription research databases can be used from anywhere on-campus, by using the Library Intranet page.

 

Off-campus access is available for students, faculty, and staff by using BeaconNet (NCU network ID and password are neccessary).
