The Bachelor of Arts in English at Northwest Christian provides a foundation in English literature, language, and composition as preparation for students who wish to pursue careers that require research, analytical, and rhetorical skills, grounded in a cross-cultural understanding of the humanities.
Objectives: Graduates of this program will:
- Be able to analyze literary works in terms of structure, ideas, and cultural context.
- Be able to appreciate language linguistically, aesthetically, and sociologically.
- Have skills in critical thinking, research and text analysis.
- Have the foundation for graduate studies in English literature and/or language (linguistics).
- Have the foundation for further training to prepare for careers in education, law, business, cross-cultural and/or internationa work, including mission studies, and, through completion of the TESOL Certificate program.
- Be able to facilitate the integration of positive behavior and the implementation of health-related programs.
- Be prepared teach English to speakers of other languages, both stateside and in other countries around the world.
